History of Present Illness (HPI)
A 24 year-old woman is brought to the emergency department by her roommate for altered mental status. She is unable to answer any questions or provide history. Her roommate tells you they were at a party last night, and she thinks her friend “took something.”
“Around midnight, she went off with a few other people and when they came back they were acting different. She left the party with them, and when she came back home this morning around 10 AM she was very confused, so I brought her here.”
Her roommate notes her friend had been completely healthy leading up to last night. She only takes an oral contraceptive pill that she is aware of. She drinks alcohol socially, smokes marijuana occasionally.
