The patient is admitted to the hospital for pain control as well as further work-up and management.

Fibrinogen level
250 mg/dL (normal 150-400 mg/dL)
Blood culture
2 sets of blood cultures drawn on admission have not grown any organism after 48 hours
Intact Parathyroid Hormone (iPTH)
722 pg/mL (normal 10 – 65 pg/mL)
A biopsy is performed in this case to confirm the diagnosis after discussion of the risks and benefits with the patient and multidisciplinary team.
